Minister Deenihan launches Gloria Dublin’s Lesbian and Gay Choir Christmas Concert, 15th December 2011

The choir were delighted to have Jimmy Deenihan, TD,Minister for Arts, Heritage & Gaeltacht Affairs launch this year’s concert in St Patrick’s Cathedral. During his opening address to over 1,200 people he remarked on the past present and future achievements of Gloria.  This was the first occasion that a member of government attended and launched a Gloria DLGC event.  It was truly a proud moment for the choir. He was particularly delighted to accept a gift from the choir of our newly launched Christmas and classical albums.  He remarked on the beauty of the cathedral and of the great sense of occasion and Christmas that was in the air. The Minister said he was looking forward to the Various Voices festival which Gloria DLGC will be hosting in Dublin in 2014 and praised the choir for the boost it will bring to the Dublin economy with the anticipated attendance of over 3,000 lesbian and gay singers from all over Europe and the USA. Thanks to everyone that came and supported us on December 15th. We really appreciate your support, you make us what we are! Thanks especially to everyone that purchased our merchandise or contributed to our concert collection. The funding raised goes entirely towards organising our Christmas concert and participation at community and voluntary charity events. On a final note, the committee of Gloria on behalf of the choir would like to wish all of our followers, fans and audience members a very happy Christmas and we are looking forward to entertaining you further in 2012!
